LA Galaxy beat C.S. Herediano to advance to the semis

The LA Galaxy crushed C.S. Herediano 4-1 on Wednesday, to advance to the CONCACAF Champions League semifinals and joined the Seattle Sounders as the second MLS side in the semis.

The last 10 minutes featured three goals. First, substitute Michael Stephens angled a cloaked ball in the box to free Robbie Keane to score. Then Elias Aguilar scored Herediano’s equalizer, scissoring home a Waylon Francis cross while falling down. The last came deep in stoppage time, when Stephens took a quick free kick before the defensive wall was set. Jack McBean curled around the goalkeeper to seal the heavy victory.

A scoring draw would have sent the visiting side through after they played out a scoreless draw in Costa Rica last week.
